One of the most common questions I get asked as a 'smooth all over' T-Girl is what do I use and why does shaving always cause such a rash and what (if anything) can be done about it.

There are a number of ways to get smooth such as creams (Immac), shaving and waxing. Which of these is best for you you will only find out from experience but hopefully this mini-guide will help steer you clear of some of the mistakes.

Cream removers.....
Creams like Immac contain an agent that basically burns the hairs off. They are basically a strong bleaching chemical. Immac and other similar products have good results for many females but lots of T-Girls find one of two problems with it.
The first is that male hair being stronger and more dense means the cream may be infective unless you have quite light hair growth. The second bigger potential problem with creams is they can create allergic reactions. After all your putting a strong bleach on your skin.
NEVER use hair removal creams on sensitive or damaged skin and NEVER apply the cream without running a test first.
Generally you should apply a little of the cream onto your skin and check out whether you get a reaction. Manufacturers state about 15 minutes usually for testing but I recommend at least 30 minutes and if you have any doubts at all don't proceed. By the way most creams have to be removed in under 15 minutes so after removal WAIT a bit and see what happens. Some reactions can take up to 12 hours to show.

To test thoroughly for a possible reaction use a small amount of the cream on the inside skin of your forearm which is more sensitive. I cant state the hazards of not testing strongly enough so NEVER EVER proceed with a cream (regardless of whether your girlfriend says its OK on her) without testing first.

Personally I cant use creams myself as they all cause a violent reaction. And I am not very sensitive to such allergies etc.

Shaving......
Now as a T-Girl you will be familiar with the morning ritual of shaving your face - its basically the same all over your body. If you shave and want to stay smooth you need to do it every two days at least. If you keep shaving up every 2 days you will find its quicker, more effective and avoid rashes and burns etc.

Also a regular shave will make sure no stray long hairs appear as you will be covering the entire body to trap any strays.

I use King of Shaves shaving gel for women (see the pic above) its expensive but worth every penny. It provides a very smooth shave and the menthol additive will keep 'burn' down plus it reduces any rash even on a first shave. You can get King of Shaves in most decent chemists like Superdrug and Boots and most supermarkets stock it as well.

I advise not bothering with a ladies type of razor. I bought one initially because I got fed up with my face razor having blunt blades (you'll go through a lot more blades if you shave all over). I bought a ladies razor just so it would be easily identifiable BUT most of them are terrible and their so called ergonomic grips are useless. Even most girls prefer a mans razor as they are easier to handle so Gillete and company take note.

I gave up with all the different female razors and just bought a standard razor in the end just for using on the body as the blades don't need to be so sharp and in fact its a good thing if they aren't because getting a cut in your nipples makes any shaving cut you ever had pale into insignificance.

Electrickery......
I question I have seen asked by some new T-Girls is 'are electric female razors' worth the money. I would have to say no - they are very slow, can irritate the skin every bit as much as a traditional wet shave and generally not as good plus they are of course more expensive.

Epilators - YOW !
An electric device you may want to consider is an epilator - its looks a bit like an electric razor but works by yanking the hairs out. They come in a variety of types (usually cost around £40 from places like Argos). Now I have never used one but I have two good friends who own them. One of them reports good results but a rash like you wouldnt believe every time its used that lasts for ages the other girl friend agrees that the rash can be bad BUT for her the rash only lasts a day or so and then she stays smooth for up to two weeks.
The one thing they both agree on is these devices HURT LIKE HELL !

Wax.....
The final method of getting yourself smooth is waxing strips. These come in a big range of types from 'cold' strips which are basically like an elastoplast to hot wax strips which you put in a microwave to get them ready.

Waxing works well on females I have found it to be less effective on me because my hairs are just too tough for most strips.

The 'hot' wax strips work the best of the bunch but exercise real care with these - especially the ones that go in the microwave as they come out HOT. These can cause some serious burns if your not careful so always follow the manufacturers recommendations and don't be tempted to turn that dial up.

To smooth it over......
There you have it - the main methods of getting rid of unwanted hair. In a nutshell shaving is the easiest for most of us T-Girls - we have the experience and the know how to do that fine and its the least likely to cause us problems. Dont be afraid of the razor on your body you will find apart from the nipples they are actually not that inclined to cut into you.

I havent covered more exotic methods of hair removal such as taking hormones, specialist electrc treatments and such because those are areas that I either cant or wont recommend and also those are treatments where you need serious medical advice.
