The eyes are
claimed to be the gateway to the soul...heres how we make them look
wonderful.
For the first
part of the eyes I am going to cover eye-shadow - the rest of the eyes will be
covered in the next section.
Eye makeup is
nearly all pressed powder based. Most manufacturers provide their eye make-up
in small compacts with a choice of colors. I don't use those because half the
colors you will never use.
Like most of my
makeups I use Rimmel - a three shade kit (shown in the pic below) and some
separate mono shades. The most useful is the very bright white (pearl) high
lighter as it works with almost anything
else.
To really get
eye-makeup to work you do need some brushes and long handled applicators -
these are like a small foam pad on a stick. Most eye makeups come with them but
they are small and often poor quality.

| APPLICATION |
There
are a million ways to make-up your eyes - In this article I am going to keep it
simple and explain how I do my eyes for most of the
time.
Take the darkest earth tone you can find and rub a foam
applicator on it until the applicator is quite loaded. Now run the applicator
over the crease in your eye where the top eyelid meets the socket. Its best to
work from the outer edge of the eye towards the centre with a wider line at the
outer edge thinning towards the inner edge (the part closest to your
nose).
Your eye makeup should not go over or under a line
between the end of your eyebrow and the outer edge of your eye.
Apply your dark color to both eyes and make sure both
eye are equal. I find it best not to go right to the edge of the eyelid near
the lashes and let a small bright patch of the concealer show which gives the
eye a more wide open appearance.
Now take the lighter
shade (high-lighter or just a paler shade of the first color and apply it on
the outer half of the eye and below the eyebrow and joining the first color at
the edge.
Finally take one of your eye brushes and very gradually
blend the edges together. there should be no clear dividing line between the
two. The dark color should just fade into the pale
color.
Getting the eyes right takes a lot of practice - I often
buy just cheap cosmetics solely to practice with and to try out different
looks. |
